Terra Alta is a territory with inland Mediterranean Picassoan landscapes where monks were already looking after the vines back in the 12th century. The conditions have always been ideal, especially for the white Garnacha – the star of the palette of varieties that provide its wines of renowned quality.
Most seasons, Designation of Origin Terra Alta viticulture is environmentally-friendly with optimal phytosanitary conditions at harvest, ripe grapes and great oenological value to produce its protected wines.
The dominant winds keep the vines and grapes moisture-free. Because of this, wine growers save on all the chemical treatments that would otherwise be necessary. This is one of the reasons why the local viticulture can be more sustainable and respectful of the environment.
